Last month of school!

Wow I can't believe it is already June! So many mixed emotions as we start to wrap up this amazing school year!

Looking Back

Language Arts

  • Did our final prefix (dis-) and did an affix review

  • Finished writing our stories

    • Added an “All about me” page and a title page

  • Started coding our stories on ScratchJr.

Math

  • Talked about measuring ‘referents’ and how to make a good estimation if you don’t have a ruler

  • Made some indigenous connections and what they may use as referents in their day to day life

Science

  • Observed our plants with no soil, no sun and no water. We had some surprises and had a great conversation and learning opportunity about chlorophyll and photosynthesis


  • Did some more coding lessons on ScratchJr

Looking ahead

On Tuesday we will have a stuffy day! Your child may bring a stuffy to school (it must fit in their backpack) and we will do some writing and math with our stuffies.

Please ensure all library books are returned to school for the end of the year. There will be no more book exchange

  Nov 7, 2015 Looking back Language arts Continued to practice words that end with ‘bossy e’. Your child brought home a roll and read game to play as well as the decodable passage we did this week. Practiced adding more detail to our written sentences. Looked at some non fiction writing and began to explore gathering information Math Talked a lot about place value into the thousands Social Studies Had an introduction to cardinal directions and did some fun activities to practice (NESW) - ask your child what fun saying they came up with to remember! Stay warm this weekend!

  Dec. 12, 2025 Looking back Language arts Talked about open and closed syllables Practiced compound words Imagined that we had a pet reindeer and made a list of things that it has and what it can do. We drew a picture of our reindeer and began writing a story.  Math Odd and even numbers Equality and inequality - used scales to practice this concept Greater than and less than - did a write the room activity to practice Social Studies Talked about heritage and had a great discussion about the different cultures in our classroom! Began our conversation about the indigenous people. We talked about all the things they get from the land. See if your child remembers where the name “Canada” comes from! Welcome Back

 Welcome back to another school year! My name is Lindsey Janisse and I will be your child's teacher this year. I am very excited to have moved up from Grade 1 last year. I know we will have a wonderful year ahead.  Looking back This week we focused on many classroom building activities: - Our Class is a Family - we wrote ways that we will contribute to our classroom family - First Day Jitters - we did a graphing activity telling how we felt on the first day of school - Journal writing - we wrote an "all about me" page telling a bit about ourselves Math: - We began a conversation about patterns and did a pattern hunt and exploration with various materials.                               .             We also got to meet our buddies this week and are making All About Me posters about each other!
