Spring has (finally) Sprung!

Looking back

Language Arts

  • Talked about silent letters (kn, wr, mb)

  • Read some fairytales and talked about the setting, characters, problem and solution

  • Wrote a top secret acrostic poem for Mother’s Day

Math

  • Finished up our addition and subtraction unit by writing a math test

  • Started our geometry unit - we talked about 2D shapes and did some fun centres to explore them

Science 

  • We talked about animal lifecycles and started a slide show project - feel free to check it out on our Google Classroom. We will start presenting them next week.

  • Learned about the lifecycle of a plant and planted our own seeds

May 18                                     Victoria Day - NO SCHOOL

Since the weather is getting nice (finally!) we will be spending more time outdoors as well as going on some community walks. Please ensure your child has a water bottle at school as well as a hat and possibly some sunscreen if you are concerned about them being out for more than a half hour at a time.

Stay warm this weekend!

  Dec. 12, 2025 Looking back Language arts Talked about open and closed syllables Practiced compound words Imagined that we had a pet reindeer and made a list of things that it has and what it can do. We drew a picture of our reindeer and began writing a story.  Math Odd and even numbers Equality and inequality - used scales to practice this concept Greater than and less than - did a write the room activity to practice Social Studies Talked about heritage and had a great discussion about the different cultures in our classroom! Began our conversation about the indigenous people. We talked about all the things they get from the land. See if your child remembers where the name “Canada” comes from! Welcome Back

 Welcome back to another school year! My name is Lindsey Janisse and I will be your child's teacher this year. I am very excited to have moved up from Grade 1 last year. I know we will have a wonderful year ahead.  Looking back This week we focused on many classroom building activities: - Our Class is a Family - we wrote ways that we will contribute to our classroom family - First Day Jitters - we did a graphing activity telling how we felt on the first day of school - Journal writing - we wrote an "all about me" page telling a bit about ourselves Math: - We began a conversation about patterns and did a pattern hunt and exploration with various materials.                               .             We also got to meet our buddies this week and are making All About Me posters about each other!
