I’m sorry I completely forgot to post a blog on Friday! I hope you all had a lovely Easter weekend with family and friends!

Looking back

Language arts

  • Practiced ew/ui/ue as the sound of ‘oo’

  • Started some personal narrative writing

  • Watched the moon launch and did some space writing

Math

  • Continued addition and subtraction strategies (the break apart strategy)

    • Your child came home with homework this weekend to practice!

Science

  • Began our new unit on Earth Systems

    • Talked about what the Earth is made up of

Other fun things

  • Created some beautiful spring art inspired by Georgia O’Keeffe

  • Read a Robert Munsch book called “Perfect Paper Airplane” and created our own paper airplanes (and tested them out!)

  Dec. 12, 2025 Looking back Language arts Talked about open and closed syllables Practiced compound words Imagined that we had a pet reindeer and made a list of things that it has and what it can do. We drew a picture of our reindeer and began writing a story.  Math Odd and even numbers Equality and inequality - used scales to practice this concept Greater than and less than - did a write the room activity to practice Social Studies Talked about heritage and had a great discussion about the different cultures in our classroom! Began our conversation about the indigenous people. We talked about all the things they get from the land. See if your child remembers where the name “Canada” comes from! Welcome Back

 Welcome back to another school year! My name is Lindsey Janisse and I will be your child's teacher this year. I am very excited to have moved up from Grade 1 last year. I know we will have a wonderful year ahead.  Looking back This week we focused on many classroom building activities: - Our Class is a Family - we wrote ways that we will contribute to our classroom family - First Day Jitters - we did a graphing activity telling how we felt on the first day of school - Journal writing - we wrote an "all about me" page telling a bit about ourselves Math: - We began a conversation about patterns and did a pattern hunt and exploration with various materials.                               .             We also got to meet our buddies this week and are making All About Me posters about each other!
