Language Arts

  • Reviewed all of the vowel teams we have learned over the past few weeks 

  • Continued to talk about verbs and adverbs and practiced writing some sentences to make a story

  • Learned about the parts of a paragraph and began planning and writing our own paragraphs

Math

  • Reviewed some math strategies to get us ready to start 2 digit addition and subtraction

  • Talked about decomposing 100 into groups of tens

  • Learned about the associative property




Social Studies

  • Talked about the 3 levels of government (federal, provincial and local) including what items they are responsible for and who is the leader of each level

  • Discussed the importance of voting 

Looking ahead

During Parent-Teacher Conferences on Thursday, March 19 and Friday, March 20, we invite families to place a colourful push pin on our world map located in our Learning Commons to show where their family comes from. Together, we’ll create a vibrant picture celebrating the diverse backgrounds that make up our school community!

Parent/Teacher Conferences

Parent/Teacher Conferences will take place in person at the school on Thursday, March 19 from 3:30pm - 7:30pm and Friday, March 20 from 8:00am to 12:00pm.

Parents will book conference times through their CBE account. Conference bookings will open on Saturday, March 14 at 8:00am and closes on Thursday, March 19 at 2:00pm. 

There is no school for students in grades 1-4 on Friday, March 20 due to conferences. 

Pancake Breakfast

On Monday March 30, MTS will be hosting a Pancake Breakfast for all students and staff.

To make this a successful event, we are requesting some Parent Volunteers for the morning.

Scholastic Book Fair

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming the week of March 16th.

Students will have the opportunity to preview the fair on Tuesday March 17 and will be able to shop during class time on Thursday March 19.

Family Shopping Hours:

  • Thursday March19: 3:30pm-7:30pm

  • Friday March 20: 8:00am-12:00pm

  Dec. 12, 2025 Looking back Language arts Talked about open and closed syllables Practiced compound words Imagined that we had a pet reindeer and made a list of things that it has and what it can do. We drew a picture of our reindeer and began writing a story.  Math Odd and even numbers Equality and inequality - used scales to practice this concept Greater than and less than - did a write the room activity to practice Social Studies Talked about heritage and had a great discussion about the different cultures in our classroom! Began our conversation about the indigenous people. We talked about all the things they get from the land. See if your child remembers where the name “Canada” comes from! Saying goodbye to February!
