Happy February!

 Feb 6, 2026

Happy February and yay Olympic time! I’m looking forward to bringing my love for the Olympics into the classroom for the next couple of weeks!

Language arts

  • Reviewed /er/ using ‘ir’ ‘ur’ ‘er’ and ‘wor’

  • Finished our animal research web and put our notes into complete sentences

Math

  • Talked about math strategies - doubles, near doubles and friendly 10s and how these addition strategies also help us subtract (a sheet was sent home to practice!)

Science

  • Continued our talk about energy by exploring light and shadows - Monday we made paper groundhogs and took them outside to do some shadow play

  • Talked about the words transparent, translucent and opaque. Does your child  remember what these words mean?

Looking ahead

Valentine’s Day

We will be exchanging valentines if your child chooses to bring some in on Wednesday February 11 in the morning. If they are bringing in cards please ensure there is enough for everyone (we have 25 kids in the morning) and they can write their name in the “from” section (leave the “to” blank for ease of distribution). Wear red/pink/hearts to celebrate the day!
