Happy to be back!

 January 30, 2026

Wow what a January it has been. I was off for 3 weeks taking care of my son as he landed himself in the hospital for 13 days. I’ve never been so excited to get back to work! The kids were in good hands with the substitute teachers they had and the transition was smooth getting back into the swing of things. Fingers crossed for healthier days ahead!

Looking back

Language arts

  • Reviewed ar/or ‘r-controlled’ vowels

  • Did some research on the computer about an animal of our choosing

  • Practiced writing a topic sentence for our research report

Math

  • Began talking about addition and subtraction

    • Talked about fact families and inverse operations to check our work

    • Talked about mental math strategies like doubles and played some games to practice

Science

  • Continued the science unit about energy by talking about behaviour of light

    • Did some exploration centres to explore the 4 behaviours of light - Does your child remember what they are? (travels in a straight line, reflection, refraction, dispersion)

If you are interested in checking out our google classroom you can sign on with your child’s gmail and their password. If they do not remember their email or password feel free to send me an email and I can give it to you!
