We showed courage like Terry!
Looking back
Langauge Arts
Focused on reviewing short vowel sounds
Learned that every sentence has a subject and predicate (something about the subject). We practiced writing our own sentences complete with a capital letter at the beginning and a period at the end.
Talked about the word “courage” and how Terry Fox had courage to run a marathon a day. We drew a picture and wrote about a time that we had courage
Math
Continued our talk and practice about repeating patterns with more than one attribute
Science
Talked about different types of materials and discovered different materials around the classroom
Made our own creations using a variety of materials (wood, metal, plastic, playdough)
Talked about properties of materials (length, weight, transparency, reflection, malleability, absorbancy)
Explored centres that related to each property that we learned about
We also finished up our self portraits and made a class promise about how we are going to treat each other and our space this year.
We had a great Terry Fox run on Friday!
Looking ahead
Please ensure library books are returned for Tuesday so a new one can be picked.
Please bring back the blue UFLI folder that was sent home so that it can be refilled each week.
We will be decorating our visual journal covers next Friday! Please bring in a variety of items that you can use to decorate your cover. You can bring in pictures, computer print outs, cut out magazine pictures, stickers, etc… Anything that is completely flat.
